Lyrics

CHRISTMAS IN NEW ENGLAND
from the 2011 release, “Christmas In New England.”

I moved here from Texas, several years ago.
I thought it’d feel more “Christmas,” with all that lovely snow.
What better place to write and sing of holidays we know
Than deep inside the Winter world that lies where it gets cold.

I couldn’t wait for that first dusting, eager all through Fall
Then all at once that cold came rushing through my bedroom wall.
I turned The Weather Channel on, so happy what I saw
A front was moving in and soon we’d see our first snowfall.

But, oh, yes, oh what did I know when that first snowflake flew
It brought a million billion friends and piled up ten by two.
I looked out the next morning and I grabbed my coat and shoes
Found my little shovel and looked forward to a brew…

I shoveled quick and shoveled fast, 10 minutes, no big news
Another 10 or 20 passed and still not much had moved.
I thought I’d have a heart attack before the drive was through
And damnit, don’t you know that we’d see snow again by 2.

It’s Christmas in New England, the snow is falling down
And all the locals think of is getting out of town.

They dream of sunny beaches, the warm sand on the ground
While tucked away, they hibernate til Summer comes around.

I grew up with thunderstorms, tornados, hail and sleet
I never thought I’d see the snow go higher than 5 feet
The dogs can’t go outside to do their business, it’s too deep
What I learned from these Nor’easters is keep a snowblower in reach!

Now if you peek inside a frosty window draped in snow
You’ll see the sight of Christmas in New England you might know
A stove with warm food baking, a candle softly glows
While family, friends and memories bond tight as Winter flows

They make the best of what they’re dealt, regardless of the cold
Telling tales of Summer swells with salty overtones.
The gray and windy ocean down the way seem far from reach
But just a few months more and they’ll be dancing on the beach!

It’s Christmas in New England, the snow is falling down
And all the locals think of is getting out of town
They dream of sunny beachs, the warm sand on the ground
While tucked away they hibernate til Summer comes around.

It’s Christmas in New England (the cold is all around)
It’s Christmas in New England (the snow keeps falling down)
It’s Christmas in New England (the dogs cannot be found)
It’s Christmas in New England (I think I’m getting out of town)

ISLAND HOLIDAY
from the 2010 release, “Whenever Christmas Comes Around.”

I wake up in the morning, pet the dogs and greet the day
Then I lay there for a minute, can’t remember what’s today

I finally come to my sense, drag myself out of the bed
As that coffee starts to brew the pressure builds inside my head

Welcome to the circus of life, kids… boys on the left, girls on the right.. rat race is right down the middle… after you!

I go to work all day, dream away while there I stay
Oh, the bills I’ve got to pay, God I really need a change

I don’t live what I’ve become, I’ve just got to get away
This corporate so-called life, it comes to an end today… hey!

Come with me…

Where it’s Christmas every day
There’s no work, it’s always play
Grab a drink and come my way
To my island hideaway

There’s no bills for you to pay
There’s no phone that rings all day
Tell your boss to go away
It’s your island holiday!

Well, this “career life” ain’t for me, how they do it, I don’t see
But there’s presents on the way, so I guess I’d better stay

When you see me staring off, to nowhere at my desk all day
Plug your headphones in and join me, now let’s get along our way…

To where it’s Christmas every day
There’s no work, it’s always play
Grab a drink and come my
To my island hideaway

There’s no bills for you to pay
There’s no phone that rings all day
Tell your boss to go away
It’s your island holiday – sing it!

Na na, na na, na na, na na na na
Na na, na na, na na, na na na na

Try as you may, you’ll spend your work day
In my tropical breakroom getaway
In the sun and the sand with a drink in your hand
Come enjoy your island holiday!

WHENEVER CHRISTMAS COMES AROUND
from the 2010 release, “Whenever Christmas Comes Around.”

I’ll be watching my weight, staying up really really late
Tryin’ to learn those new songs so they don’t sound half-rate

Yeah, this season comes around, every single year
Now it’s to start packing it up so we that can get this show in gear…

Everyone tells me that I’m crazy for leaving,
Everyone thinks I’m insane.
But, I kind of like, being right here with you…
Whenever Christmas comes around.

On July 25th, I quickly re-appear,
And when Labor Day comes, well, you know I’ll be here.
I might show up at a sock hop or an Oktoberfest
My living room, well it’s festive, but seeing you is the best!

Everyone tells me that I’m crazy all season,
Everyone thinks I’m insane.
But, I kind of like, being right here with you…
Whenever Christmas comes around.

Everyone told me that I’d be so lonely while spending the season away but the reason is…
So I can come to your town.

Spreading the cheer with a song and a beer, I love what I’m doin’, I’m glad that you’re always here…
Whenever Christmas comes around.

On January 1st, Yes, I’ll take a little break,
But before all that snow melts, I’ll be putting things in place.
For a few months I’ll be busy, it’s not always a piece of cake
But, I’ll see you in September, until then I can’t wait!

Everyone tells me that I’m crazy all season
Everyone thinks I’m insane (Yeah Yeah Yeah)
But, I kind of like, being right here with you…
Whenever Christmas comes around.

Grab a friend, grab a beer and enjoy that Christmas cheer
Whenever Christmas comes around (Yeah Yeah Yeah)

On the road, round the tree, I just hope you think of me
Whenever Christmas comes around.

WHAT HAPPENS NOW
from the 2010 release, “Whenever Christmas Comes Around.”

After all the snow stops falling
After all your family’s gone back home
After all the sand blows off the highway
What happens now?

As you pack your decorations
Reminiscing ‘bout the times that were so good
You tell yourself you’re gonna change your life now
While the spirit leaves your soul

What happens now?

So, did you keep that resolution?
Did you give that man your spare change?
Did you try to make a difference
Or has nothing seemed to change?

“I just can’t understand why people need one special time of year to be kind and appreciate each other. When really, it’s just as simple as trying to do a little good every day.”

I live all my life just like it’s Christmas day
As the season’s change around me, I keep going my own way
If the daylight gets you down, just think of me and sing
‘Cause the message that I’m sending is that life is up to you.

So, what happens now?

Yeah, as that sandy beach starts calling
Watch your plans begin to fade away…
Are you gonna show at that reunion?
You know, the one you said you’d finally make.

As the cold gray rain starts falling
After all the leaves turned red, then brown
Now as you plan your Christmas parties
Where are you now? What happens now?

I live all my life just like it’s Christmas day
As the season’s change around me, I keep going my own way
If the daylight gets you down, just think of me and sing
‘Cause the message that I’m sending is to be good every day.

Yes, I live my whole life, just like it’s Christmas day
As the season’s change around me, I know he’ll be on his way
Well, yeah, I might be crazy, but sometime’s crazy’s good
‘Cause the message that I’m sending is that life it up to you… and what happens now.

CHRISTMASTIME ON THE BEACH
from the 2008 release, “Christmastime On The Beach.”

Gather ’round the fire, get your marshmallows real warm
The tide is getting higher, Santa’s just right down the shore…

The water’s fine, the sun is bright, the air is crisp and clean.
My cooler’s filled with Christmas cheer – got presents and a tree.

The dogs, their tails are waggin’ ’cause they know who’ll soon be here.
And all those crazy seagulls love the crackers and my beer!

Oh it’s Christmas… Christmastime on the beach

Now, let’s make a frosty sandman and we’ll cover him with oil.
He’ll get a tan in no time and then wash away by morn.

My silver tree is gleaming from the sun against the shore
And that sand between my toes is so much warmer than the snow…

Oh it’s Christmas… Christmastime on the beach

I remember when I was a young boy back at home,
At night I’d watch for snow outside my window all alone.
I’d listen for the reindeer on my roof on Christmas eve,
Those memories were so fond but now I’m dreaming of palm trees…

Oh it’s Christmas… Christmastime on the beach

Gather ’round the fire, cuddle up with someone warm.
The sun is getting brighter on this lovely Christmas morn…

Oh it’s Christmas… Christmastime on the beach…
